Bio

Tanita Gaines, a native of Louisville, Kentucky, began her music career as a child singing gospel music in the children’s choir. Tanita often tells the story of her first musical performance at the tender age of five, where she belted out a song on a city bus; leaving the bus patrons speechless and clapping for more. Truly, a star was born.

After many local performances throughout her formative school years, Tanita landed her first professional gig at the age of 16. Her powerful and sultry R&B voice lead her to become on of the members of the group, New Birth, recording artists on the RCA label. In addition to her R&B singing talents, Tanita is also an accomplished jazz singer. Her voice has lended to the groups Anatomy, The Joe Wells Blues Band, The Stormy Monday Blues Band and The Rusty Ends Blues Band. She has also opened for artists like James Brown and KoKo Taylor, and countless other headliners.

With her wide range of vocal styles and music genres, Tanita contends that her roots are firmly planted in gospel music. No matter how musically involved Tanita’s schedule becomes, she continues to place God at the head of her career. She is currently a member of St. Stephen Baptist Church in Louisville, Kentucky, where she is a member of the Tabernacle choir, and is one of many featured soloists.

Tanita Gaines is currently working on her solo CD with the help of producer, Harry Fuqua (formerly of RCA and Motown Records). While working on her CD, she continues to perform at major events throughout Kentucky and the United States. Jones. Never receiving formal vocal training, this singer has a voice that not only compliments the music, but makes the music come alive.
